My name is Anabel Leva. I am a multidisciplinary UI & UX Designer from Toronto, Canada. I work with agencies and businesses to help them cultivate strong brands through the use of product and web design. After several years of working and studying I have developed strong creative, design, problem solving, and collaborative skills. I am always eager to learn about new design methodologies and technology, and can often be found stalking the internet for great fonts.
When I'm not working I love cooking, drinking bubble tea, swimming, boxing, visiting the aquarium, and going on Disney cruises. I also own a handsome cat named Harley and a black cat named Velvet.

I create high quality visuals for websites and apps; including wireframing, designing hi-fi mockups, building interactive prototypes, and animating microinteractions.
I design user-centric products utilizing practices such as conducting user interviews, research and competitive analysis, persona creation, and user journeys/flows.
I am experienced in creating design processes and building design systems; from setting governance to defining usage and rules or designing reusable components.
I have worked on several agile scrum teams; participating in bi-weekly sprints including: sprint planning meetings, grooming sessions, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
I am passionate about sharing knowledge and have lead several workshops and design sprints; specializing in mastering design tools, levelling up design skills, and design thinking.

I played a key role in the implementation, management, and documentation of the design system. I was responsible for creating governance around components, and lead a variety of design system based training sessions. I also worked in an agile scrum team supporting enterprise business products, where I was responsible for wireframing, designing high-fidelity mockups, prototyping, and presenting to stakeholders.
December 2017 // August 2018
I worked closely with the president and CTO to design the features of a new productivity tool in a scrum-based, agile environment. I was responsible for designing low-fidelity mockups, rapid wireframing, prototyping, and presenting concepts to stakeholders. I also created personas, mapped out user journeys, and focused in on users pain points based on competitive analysis research and user research.

I worked with several agencies like KBS+, BTA Advertising, and Pivot Design Group as a UI/UX and Visual Design contractor. In these fast-paced environments I became an instant member of the team and was able to dive straight into projects while learning the in’s and out’s of a variety of brands. I was responsible for designing high-fidelity mockups, wireframes, sitemaps, and various marketing materials.

I was responsible for designing all marketing and sales collateral including: campaign landing pages, email newsletters, and e-books. I also worked with the product designers to maintain a strong, consistent brand across our various platforms. While working on large scale web projects I ran and participated in design sprints, attended user feedback sessions, and worked closely with the product team.

I worked alongside senior designers in a scrum-based, agile environment. My main responsibilities were creating mockups for Android apps based on existing wireframes, supporting mobile/tablet iOS app designs, updating website designs, and making revisions based on client feedback. I also designed presentation decks for client pitches, ads for web/print, and internal documents for stakeholders.

I worked alongside the CEO and back-end developers to refresh the company’s existing products. While working on the web app I participated in whiteboarding sessions where we created user journeys that were translated into wireframes and high-fidelity mockups. I worked on a variety of projects ranging from developing the corporate website, branding, printed documents, and even apparel design.

My main responsibility was to update the products on the internal website and e-commerce CMS. I scanned, edited, and organized images of new fabrics to create online purchase orders for internal company use. I also created original content and photographed fabrics in creative ways to be used in blog posts.

As Graphic Design Intern I worked closely with the Creative Manager on a variety of projects and participated regularly in meetings where I pitched my designs to influential members of the company. I designed marketing material such as sell sheets, promotional magnets, infographics, and advertisements for print, while learning new skills like bilingual design along the way. I created concepts for various product packaging and company product catalogue covers.

I'm a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers because I value the standards, community, ethics, and advocacy that they bring to the design industry.
My team designed a solution to support LGBTQ women in Toronto.
I recieved this award for my school project Night Owl, packaging design for beer bottles and 4-pack boxes.

I’ve volunteered at many design and technology conferences including: FITC Toronto, Web Unleashed, Design Thinkers, and RGD's HeadStart; from working at registration to sign in attendees, or as a stage member to help the talks run smoothly.
I volunteered for Learn to Code Day, helping a group of students understand how to build a basic website with HTML and CSS.

I increased my skills in typography and layout as well as developing a passion for web design and front-end development. I learned about creating brands, preparing files for print, evolving ideas into advertising campaigns; as well as increasing my technical skills and knowledge of design software.

I learned about the different facets of graphic design using a variety of software (Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk 3DS Max, Final Cut Pro, and Pro Tools). I also learned about the importance of social media, having a strong presence on the web, and making connections with people in the industry.
